U.N. ESTIMATES NUMBER OF UKRAINIAN REFUGES TO BE 7.5 MILLION SINCE WAR COMMENCED

The U.N. Refugee Agency has estimated that over 7.5 million Ukrainians have become refugees and moved to neighbouring countries since Russia commenced invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

 

Data collected by the agency accentuates that practically 4.2 million of the refugees have applied for temporary resident status in neighbouring Western European countries.

 

The U.N. Refugee Agency wrote, “The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has caused civilian casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructure, forcing people to flee their homes seeking safety, protection and assistance.”
