YOUNG BILLIONAIRE, OBI CUBANA, DEFEATS ELUMELU, RABIU AND MAKINDE TO EMERGE AS THE 2021 MAN OF THE YEAR
Greatly admired young billionaire and Chairman of Cubana Group of Companies Limited, Chief Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, known worldwide as Obi Cubana, has won the 2021 Man of the Year award
The Cubana Group boss, who studied Political Science at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, defeated illustrious Nigerians like the Chairman of UBA and Heirs Holding, Tony Elumelu; the current governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde; and the Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Andulsamad Rabiu to win the award.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that the businessman was voted by Nigerians at home and in the diaspora via online platforms in a 14-day Leadership Excellence Awards.
The great entrepreneur and philanthropist who ventured into hospitality business owing to his inability to secure a civil service job emerged winner with 2,667,845 votes, while Makinde, Elumelu and Rabiu had 1,015,224, 848,652 and 819,562 votes respectively.
The great native of Oba in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State who is a recipient of an honorary doctorate degree from the European-American University was recently reported to have empowered 300 youths engaged in business with N1 million each after videos of his mother’s burial went viral.
The award, organised by IgbereTV, is endorsed by the African Union and the African Film Institute. It recognises and honours the outstanding impact of leaders in both the public and private sectors in Nigeria.
The 2021 edition award presentation is scheduled to hold on November 2 in Abuja.
